In memory of Anthony Vimalan

Anthony Vimalan

It is with great sadness that we have learnt that Mr. Anthony Vimalan, our Country Coordinator in Sri Lanka, passed away last week. He died of a heart attack on Friday night.

Anthony Vimalan was born on April 8th 1976. Following his studies of philosophy and social work he worked for local NGOs in Sri Lanka before joining KNH as a Programme Coordinator in 2009. In 2014 he took on the role as Country Coordinator.

Anthony Vimalan was an enthusiastic promoter of child rights. The was especially noticable in his interaction with children. His wish to deepen his understanding of development and child rights led him to continuously pursue his studies. He was full of humour. Despite his experiences of the Sri Lankan civil war his enjoyment of life was contagious. He was full of ideas and plans for his personal and professional life. Ideas he will now not be able to follow through. Anthony Vimalan leaves behind his wife and two children.

Our thoughts are with him, his family and his colleagues in Sri Lanka. We will miss him greatly.

In sorrow,

Katrin Weidemann, CEO, on behalf of all Kindernothilfe employees
